Ateneo Junior High School (AJHS) student Shakira Malonzo of 7-Alonso, Ateneo de Manila’s lone wushu athlete representing Quezon City, earned a bronze medal in the Wushu-Taolu 1st Set Nanquan event at the Philippine Youth Games – Batang Pinoy National Championships 2025 held in General Santos City from 25 to 31 October 2025.
As the youngest member of the QC Wushu Batang Pinoy 2025 delegation, Malonzo delivered a spirited performance that contributed to the squad’s dominant campaign. The team emerged as the overall Wushu-Taolu champion, finishing with a medal haul of 12 gold, 9 silver, and 6 bronze.
The 2025 Batang Pinoy National Championship is one of the largest editions in the program’s history, gathering nearly 19,000 athletes, 4,400 coaches, and 1,260 officials from 188 local government units competing across 27 sports events. Malonzo’s achievement not only highlights her promising future in wushu but also underscores Quezon City’s continued strength in national youth sports.
