03 Dec 2025
Representing the Philippines as a member of the SM Mall of Asia skating team, Ateneo de Manila Grade School student Alex Monje (1-Mapagmahal) brought home two medals from the ISI Skate Hong Kong 2025 tournament, held at the Cityplaza Ice Palace in Hong Kong on 8-9 November 2025.
Competing in two beginner-level divisions designed to develop foundational skating skills and confidence, Alex delivered an exceptional performance:
• In the Pre-Alpha Character Spotlight category, which showcases skaters’ creativity, musicality, and performance presence through costume and choreography, Alex captured first place against two other competitors.
• In the Speed Racing – 6-Year-Old Female division—an event that tests balance, stride power, and control—Alex raced against six participants and earned a strong second place finish.
These achievements highlight Alex’s growth both as a technical skater and as a young performer on ice.
The ISI Skate Hong Kong series—now in its 23rd year—is recognized as one of the biggest and most popular ISI-licensed skating competitions in Asia, drawing young and advanced skaters from multiple countries. The event features fun, developmental, and competitive categories, ranging from spotlight performances to technical freestyle, speed events, and team programs.
