Representing Quezon City, Ateneo de Manila Junior High School (AJHS) swimmer Cross Acal (8-Delgado) secured two gold medals at the Batang Pinoy 2025, held from 26-30 October 2025 at the Antonio C. Acharon Sports Complex in General Santos City. A member of the Fast Ateneo Swimming Team (FAST), Cross won gold in the Boys’ 12–13 4×50m freestyle relay and the 4×50m medley relay events.
Cross’ victories contributed significantly to Quezon City’s strong overall medal haul of 45 gold, 51 silver, and 57 bronze medals. Regarded as one of the largest editions of Batang Pinoy to date, the competition brought together approximately 19,000 athletes, 4,400 coaches, and 1,260 officials from 188 local government units, competing across 27 sporting events.
Organized by the Philippine Sports Commission, Batang Pinoy is the country’s premier national youth sports competition for athletes under 18 years old. Cross’ achievements are especially commendable given the level of competition, as he excelled against top athletes from cities and provinces nationwide—further affirming his place among the country’s best young swimmers.
