AGS golfers take 2nd Place in Interschool Stroke Play Championships

Ateneo de Manila Grade School (AGS) completed a strong rally in the final four legs of the Play Golf Interschool Stroke Play Championships, securing a 2nd Place overall finish in the Grade School Division.
After missing the first two rounds due to his participation in the Singapore Masters in November 2025, Junior World participant Luis Espinosa (6-Xavier) returned to lead the eight-member GS team. He tallied a total of 313 points to claim 2nd Place in the Boys 12 & Under Division. EC Aguirre (5-Maguindanao) also delivered a medal finish, earning 5th Place with 358 points.
In the Boys 10 & Under Division, Marco Iglesia (4-Humabon) and Matteo dela Cruz (4-Magat Salamat) secured 2nd and 3rd Place honors in the individual category with 350 and 358 points, respectively. The team’s youngest contributor, Datu Villamor (2-Acacia), added a crucial 361 points to complete the five best individual scores that counted toward the total team score.
Other members of the team were Ross Tecson (6-Canisius), EJ Illescas (5-Dumagat), and Rupert Cariño (2-Dao).
The Blue Eagle junior golfers competed in six rounds across various Luzon courses, with the best four team scores counted toward the championship standings.
The Play Golf Stroke Play Championships are a multi-leg interschool tournament that gathers top junior golfers from various schools across Luzon. The Grade School Division competition was held over six rounds from October 2025 to January 2026, with the final four legs determining the overall team standings. Tournament legs were hosted at Caliraya Golf Club in Lumban, Mimosa Plus Golf Course in Clark, Pampanga, and Northwoods Golf and Country Club in San Rafael, Bulacan. In each leg, teams competed in stroke play format, with the best five individual scores contributing to the team total, and the best four team scores out of six rounds counted toward the final championship results.
