Ateneo de Manila Senior High School (ASHS) student athlete Cy Blanca (11-Wright) continues to make waves in the Philippine climbing scene, combining consistency, skill, and determination to dominate local competitions.
On 14 February 2026, Cy secured 1st place in the U15 Boys Category at the ISM Bouldering Competition hosted by International School Manila (ISM). The event took place at ISM’s indoor climbing facility in Taguig City, where young athletes faced challenging bouldering routes designed to test strength, technique, and problem-solving under pressure. Cy’s precise and strategic performance, topping key routes while demonstrating composure and adaptability, earned him the top spot in his category.
This victory serves as Cy’s last local competition before he departs for Tokyo on 26 February to compete in the North Face Cup 2026 for Bouldering, an international event attracting some of the strongest climbers in the region.
Cy’s recent success builds on a remarkable season in the YWF Youth Climbing Series 2025, where he was named Overall Champion in the U-15 Boys category. He earned this title by accumulating the highest points across all legs of the season. His victory in the eighth and final leg on September 20, 2025, held at Boulder World in the SM Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City, capped a string of gold-medal performances. Cy had previously won the sixth leg on 27 July 2025, and the seventh leg on 17 August 2025, which secured his lead in the season rankings and demonstrated his consistency and dominance throughout the series.
From consistently topping routes in local competitions to representing the Philippines on the international stage, Cy Blanca’s achievements highlight his talent, focus, and determination. His success is a source of pride for ASHS and an inspiration to aspiring young climbers nationwide.
