Ateneo HS Girls’ Volleyball Team finishes first runner-up in PAYA Juniors 18U

The Ateneo de Manila Girls’ Volleyball Team (AGVT) secured a strong finish as First Runner-Up in the Philippine Athletic Youth Association (PAYA) Juniors (Girls 18U) division, capping off an impressive campaign highlighted by teamwork, resilience, and competitive spirit.
The team is composed of 13 Ateneo Senior High School (ASHS) students and two Ateneo Junior High School (AJHS) students, showcasing depth across both high schools.
Leading the squad was team captain Jelena Dait (12-Holland), alongside teammates Luanne Atienza (12-Oldcorne), Gian Damian (12-Acquaviva), Ysa Gomez (12-Pantalia), Thistle Chebat (11-Gavan), Luisa Del Prado (11-Torres), Chessca Malabanan (11-Bellarmino), Julia Mariano (11-Hoyos), Ainsly Santiago (11-Brebeuf), Aubrey Tay (11-Moscoso), Jem Ty (11-Perez), Sabine Tomanan (11-Torres), and Margaux Viola (11-Escribano) from ASHS; and Jona Ajon (8-Fausti) and Irene Yaranon (8-Del Castillo) from AJHS.
The team was coached by Franz Damian and Jay Regala, with assistance from Diego Avila (I AB IS).
The AGVT faced De La Salle Zobel in the championship match held on March 21, 2026, at the Xavier School High School Gym. Despite a determined effort, the team ultimately finished as First Runner-Up, marking a commendable achievement in the tournament.
The AGVT’s performance reflects the strength of Ateneo’s volleyball program and the athletes’ dedication to excellence both on and off the court.
