QS Subject Rankings 2026: Ateneo in top 100 for theology; ranked in 7 subject areas

2026 QS Subjects

Ateneo de Manila University is among the top institutions in seven subject areas, and among the top 100 for theological and religious studies, according to the latest QS World University Rankings by Subject.

The 2026 edition of the subject-specific QS rankings table, released Wednesday, 25 March 2026, showed that Ateneo is among the world's best in the following Narrow Subject Areas: 

  • Theology, Divinity & Religious Studies 51-100
  • Anthropology 101-200
  • English Language & Literature 201-250
  • Politics & International Studies 301-400
  • Sociology  301-375
  • Business & Management Studies 451-500
  • Economics & Econometrics 551-700

However, compared to the 2025 edition, this is two subject areas less. Despite this most either maintained their current standings, or rose in the rankings.

Ateneo was also ranked in two Broad Subject Areas:

  • Arts and Humanities  =333
  • Social Sciences & Management 401-450

The annual QS World University Rankings by Subject ranks institutions worldwide across 5 broad and 55 specific subject areas. The rankings take into consideration academic and employer reputation, research output, and institutional linkages. The detailed methodology can be found at the QS website.

For this year's rankings, the reputation and research output of 6,277 institutions were analyzed by QS, the organization said. Out of this, 1,912 institutions were ranked.
