2021 Traditional University Awards to honor six exemplary individuals

Six exemplary individuals will be honored with the Traditional University Awards of the Ateneo de Manila University this year in recognition of their remarkable work and contribution to Philippine society.
The awardees were chosen by Ateneo de Manila’s Board of Trustees and was first announced in a memorandum from Fr Roberto Yap SJ, University President, last 11 June 2021.
"The Traditional University Awards of the Ateneo de Manila recognize the life and works of men and women in our society who exemplify the values of the university," the memo read.
The six honorees for this year are:
- Antonio T Carpio, retired Senior Associate Justice, Supreme Court of the Philippines, Doctor of Laws, honoris causa
- Hector L Hofileña, retired Associate Justice, Court of Appeals of the Philippines, Lux in Domino
- Fr Heinrich Kulüke SVD, former Superior General of the SVD (Societas Verbi Divini), Bukas Palad
- Roel Z Cagape, medical doctor and indigenous peoples' advocate, Ozanam
- Remedios I Rikken, women's movement pioneer and founder of PILIPINA, Lingkod Sambayanan
- Felice P Sta Maria, cultural historian, scholar, and advocate, Tanglaw ng Lahi
This year’s Special Academic Convocation for the conferment of the awards will stream on Tuesday, 31 August 2021, 5pm, at go.ateneo.edu/TUA2021. The entire University community and the public are invited to attend the virtual ceremony.
