Ateneo de Manila University will host the 23rd English in South East Asia Conference (ESEA 2026) from 3 to 5 December 2026. The conference brings together educators, researchers, and policymakers to discuss current and emerging issues in English language teaching and learning.
With the theme “Rethinking English Language Teaching: Embracing Diversity and Equity in Resource-Challenged Contexts,” ESEA 2026 focuses on multilingualism, equity, and socially responsive language education, particularly in Southeast Asia and similar contexts worldwide.
The conference welcomes proposals for papers, posters, and themed panels across a wide range of areas, including English language pedagogy, World Englishes, translanguaging, language policy, literacy, educational technology, and language testing and assessment.
ESEA 2026 will feature plenary talks by Li Wei, Director and Dean of the UCL Institute of Education; Enric Llurda, Professor of Applied Linguistics at the University of Lleida; and Maria Luz Elena N Canilao, Associate Professor and Chair of the English Department at Ateneo de Manila University.
The conference aims to create a space for dialogue among scholars and practitioners working in diverse and resource-challenged settings, highlighting local perspectives alongside global conversations in English language education.
The deadline for proposal submission is 15 March 2026. Special registration rates are available for students. More details on registration and important dates are available on the ESEA 2026 website.
