Jubilarians’ Night: Ignatian values in action
04 Oct 2025
On 19 September 2025, alumni from the Ateneo Grade School, High School, and College came together to celebrate their milestone anniversaries in a night of legacy, purpose, camaraderie and spirit of the Ignatian tradition. The event was hosted by Ms Bitchik Panlilio-Dimalanta (AB Economics ‘81), who dedicated 35 years as a partner-in-mission at Ateneo.
Mr Vaughn Quinto, a second-year BS Electronics and Communications Engineering student, set an inspiring tone as the first speaker. Raised in Davao by his single mother and grandparents, his humble beginnings molded his determination. With perseverance, he was able to attain a scholarship at Ateneo, eventually receiving the MAGIS Scholarship.
Mr Edward Joseph Porta, Ms Maria Ysabel Galvez, and Mr Vinze Symoun Estioco shared their journey as they navigated the legacy project of Ateneo Senior High School Graduates Batch 2025. Through various fundraising initiatives, the group raised ₱1.1 Million, surpassing their target goal, for Ateneo scholars.
Fr RB Hizon SJ, Director of the Office of University Development and Alumni Affairs (OUDAA) highlighted OUDAA’s mission of strengthening the Ateneo community, advocacy, programs and advancement goals of the University. Moreover, there was a call and challenge to everyone to show their support as Dr Jose Maria Edito Tirol, Director of Office of Admission and Aid – Undergraduate Education presented statistics of scholars and what can be done to bridge the gap. Mr Tristan Timbol from the Ateneo High School Class of 2000 also presented the upcoming projects of the Silver Jubilarians, including a fundraising initiative in support of the AAA Order of the Blue Eagles Scholars, the Salaguinto & Salagubang program, and the Ateneo Track and Field Team.
Fr Joaquin Jose Mari "Jonjee" Sumpaico III SJ, Vice President for Basic Education closed the program by thanking everyone for their presence and reminding everyone to uphold the Jesuit tradition of keeping hearts, minds, and hands in action. “Tumubo at mamunga nang mabuti!” Be a force for good!
More than a tribute, the Jubilarians’ Night was a call to action, a celebration of faith transformed into service, and an invitation to all to live with greater depth and generosity.
AMDG!
