Safety Seal and Face-to-Face (OVPLS Memo)

29 Jan 2022 | Office of the Vice President for the Loyola Schools

29 January 2022

Memo to       :          The Loyola Schools community

Memo from  :          (Sgd) Maria Luz C Vilches, PhD
                                 Vice President

Subject         :          Safety Seal and Face-to-Face Classes

Welcome to the Second Semester of this SY 2021-2022! I am happy to bring you good news!

The Loyola Schools has passed the Quezon City local government's school health and safety inspection which was undertaken by the QC Engineering Office on Tuesday, 11 January 2022 and by the QC Health Office on Wednesday, 12 January 2022. The thorough inspections covered health and safety protocols matched with facilities in re-imagined classroom and building spaces in the Loyola Schools complex and in the Loyola School of Theology.

On 25 January 2022, the Quezon City government issued a Safety Seal to the Loyola Schools to certify that we are safe for Face-to-Face classes. We are directed to display this seal within our premises.

Many thanks!

Making our campus safe is a tedious and thorough process, the work of many minds and hearts and hands. I would like to thank the large LS team that has been constantly at it and on hand in the immediate preparations for the inspection visits - particularly the Office of Facilities and Sustainability headed by Engr Ely Pan and the Office of Health Services headed by Dr Henri Dela Cruz, in coordination with CFMO headed by Mr Mike Canlas and CSMO headed by Mr MJ Mendoza. Thanks to Dr Paeng Guerrero and Ms Joy Salita who were the point persons in liaising with the QC LGU. Thanks to Architect Allan Prado, Mr Darwin Enguerra, Dr Henri Dela Cruz, Ms Marivic Albano, Dr Sio Marquez, Mr Cholo Mallillin, Fr Rogel Abais, SJ, Mr Macky Brion, Ms Arianne Ferrer, Engr Ronald Santos, Mr Rommel Paderes, Mr KD Suarez and the cohort from SOSE: Ms Ethel Wagas, ES Lab Coordinator; Lab technicians - from BIO, Mr Earl Kevin Fatallo, Mr. John Rolan Salinas; from CHEM, Mr Kenny Malusay, Mr Perfecto (Jhun) Domingo; from ECCE, Mr Macky Luzano; from ES, Mr Salvador Andal, Mr. Ruben Mutya; from PHYSICS, Mr. Bong Enaje. This entire team kindly received onsite the guests from the QC LGU and did the presentation of our safety protocols and the tour of our buildings and facilities. Dr Reena Estuar and her ACCCRe team were also on board online during this time to present the BluePHR system.

Thank you all for making the inspections successful!

F2F Classes

The implementation of the pilot F2F classes this second semester has been delayed as I indicated in my memo of 12 January 2022. But immediate preparations are being done at the level of the offices that run the LS services necessary for this F2F adventure and also at the level of the School Deans and relevant departments and programs. Announcements to pertinent students and faculty on the start of limited F2F classes (and other related arrangements) will come from the specific LS Schools where those classes are housed.

We are slowly getting there. A little bit more patience…

I wish everyone good health, safety, and a fulfilling semester.
