University Research Council (URC) Call for Proposals
24 Feb 2022 | University Research Council
24 February 2022
Memo to : The University Community
Subject : Call for Proposals (Extension of Deadline)
The University Research Council Grants are of two types: the URC Big Project Grant can be awarded a maximum ₱1,600,000.00; the URC Standard Grant can be awarded a maximum of ₱600,000.00.
The URC grants support the interdisciplinary scholarly work of the faculty members, professionals, and staff of the Ateneo de Manila University. This call is open to theoretical as well as applied research proposals that contribute to the University’s mission of providing intellectual leadership in higher education and in creating positive social impact in the following priority areas, as articulated in the University Strategic Plan (see here):
- Education Reform and Transformation
- Integral Ecology
- Universal Health and Well-being
- Bridging Cultural Divides
Proposals that do not have a high interdisciplinary component may be considered provided they are framed according to one of these priority areas. However, the URC Big Project Grant is intended primarily to support interdisciplinary research.
The proposed research projects may have a one-year or two-year timeframe. Projects may commence in June 2022 or at a later time that is best suited to the particularities of the project.
The URC is keen to support projects that will make new contribution to knowledge, which can be ensured through the strength of the project concept, design, and methodology.
In order to share this new knowledge, the proposed research is expected to generate Scopus-indexed publications. The expected output may also come in other forms, such as an application for patent, training, a community plan or facility, or a policy document, but a grant must produce the expected publication.
Applicants are enjoined to familiarize themselves with the URC’s recently revised policies and guidelines available here.
Proponents must be mindful that research methods are conformable to current conditions. Please refer to the URC Guidelines During the Covid-19 Pandemic found here.
Applicants are reminded to submit a detailed proposal as specified in the guidelines and a two-page curriculum vitae for each proponent. Applicants must complete the online URC budget template, mindful of URC guidelines as they apply to each budget item requested.
Applications must be lodged online. Log on to apply-rcw.ateneo.edu and proceed to the Research Grants Portal to submit your application.
The deadline for applications has been extended to 31 March 2022.
Please note that the URC considers for deliberation only those applications that are complete and proposals that have been thoroughly prepared.
If you have any queries or need assistance, please do not hesitate to email urc@ateneo.edu.
We look forward to receiving your applications!
