AdMU HE Structure Committee & Consultation Process (Memo U2122-064)

21 Mar 2022 | Office of the President

Memo # U2122-064
21 March 2022

Memo to        :           The University Community

Subject           :           AdMU HE Structure Committee & Consultation Process

In Memo # U2122-052 issued on 10 February, I informed the community about Phase 2 of the organizational review involving a study of an alignment of structures and processes between Loyola Schools (LS) and the Ateneo Professional Schools (APS) in view of a possible higher education cluster.

I wish to emphasize that the objectives of this possible alignment are to:

  • Enable synergies across units (straight programs, research collaborations, faculty sharing, common services)
  • Ensure a level of consistency in our programs, policies, and processes (core curriculum, faculty development, record keeping)
  • Resolve challenges experienced; make things more efficient
  • Define identity and market positioning of ADMU higher education
  • Complement university restructuring efforts

In connection with this study, I am pleased to inform the community that I have appointed the following as members of the AdMU HE Structure Committee:

Mr Rodolfo P Ang
Ms Ma Rosario A Banzon
Dr Mendiola Teng-Calleja
Dr Anne Lan K Candelaria
Dr Jonathan O Chua
Dr Marlene M De Leon
Dr Edna P Franco
Dr Jowett Cecilio F Magsaysay

Mr Rey R Reyes
Dr Chito B Salazar
Ms Marie Joy R Salita
Ms Jenny C See
Dr Benjamin T Tolosa Jr
Dr John Paul C Vergara
Dr Maria Luz C Vilches

I have also requested Dr Edna P Franco to chair this Committee. On behalf of Ateneo de Manila, I thank all the members who have generously accepted this assignment in addition to their many responsibilities.

The committee will undertake the following tasks:

  1. Conduct meetings, interviews, focus group discussions with resource persons from LS and APS on (a) the challenges and opportunities of consolidating APS and LS into one higher education structure and (b) how to address challenges and harness opportunities.[1]
  2. Process the information gathered from APS and LS
  3. Propose an organization chart for the Higher Education cluster
  4. Propose a transition plan (and activities) that may be carried out in SY 2022-2023

I have requested the Committee to come up with their recommendations by the end of May 2022.

I enjoin the LS and APS communities to actively participate in the consultation process and to support the AdMU HE Structure Committee in this important undertaking for the University.

(Sgd) Roberto C Yap SJ
President

[1] Information will also be sourced from the VPs Councils of APS and LS; from the schools through the deans; from other employees through the ADSAS/ADSF clusters; and from the different LS and APS offices.
