Recognition Rites for Graduates of Batches 2020 and 2021 (OVPLS Memo)

17 May 2022 | Office of the Vice President for the Loyola Schools

MEMO TO:                 Loyola Schools Community

MEMO FROM:           [Sgd.] Maria Luz C Vilches, PhD

                                    Vice-President

SUBJECT:                  RECOGNITION RITES FOR GRADUATES OF BATCHES 2020 & 2021

The time has come, thankfully!

Assuming that the COVID Alert Level remains at Level I or improves – (and we hope for the latter) – the Loyola Schools will be hosting onsite recognition ceremonies at the Ateneo de Manila High School Covered Courts on Sunday, August 28, 2022:  Batch 2021 in the morning and Batch 2020 in the afternoon.

Who are the members of which batch?

Batch 2020 (those who completed their degrees)

  • at the end of Intersession 2019
  • at the end of the First Semester SY 2019-2020
  • at the end of the Second Semester SY 2019-2020

Batch 2021 (those who completed their degrees)

  • at the end of Intersession 2020
  • at the end of the First Semester SY 2020-2021
  • at the end of the Second Semester SY 2020-2021

Students who completed their degrees at the end of Intersession 2021 and at the end of the First Semester SY 2021-2022 belong to the graduating batch of 2022 and will join the commencement rites on August 27 and 29, 2022.

The recognition rites will be simple.  One highlight of the rites is a portion where participating graduates will be called to the stage, be acknowledged by the University President, and take a bow.

Obtaining a Toga

Joining the ceremony will require the wearing of a toga by the participants.  In order to ensure that there will be enough togas, members of Batches 2020 and 2021 should confirm their attendance by Tuesday, 31 May 2022. They can do so by filling out this form: go.ateneo.edu/LSRecogAttendance2021 and paying a non-refundable rent for a toga and a refundable security deposit via BPI, BDO, or GCash. Details are found in the form. They can also have a toga custom-made. Rates for toga rental and made-to-order togas can be found in the form too. If the graduate has already purchased his/her own toga before, please indicate that in the form.

Please note:  If we do not receive a completed form from the members of Batch 2020 and 2021 by 31 May 2022, we will assume that they will not be coming to the recognition ceremonies. Graduates of 2020 and 2021 can also opt to not join the recognition rites and just have pictures taken around the campus. There are photo galleries in various high school classrooms and various areas around the high school campus with nice backdrops including the Ateneo de Manila seal. If this is an option they want to take, they should please indicate it in the online form.

Next Steps

The Loyola Schools will announce more detailed information on the recognition ceremonies including dress code, parking, guest protocols, and other such matters before August 28, 2022.

Meantime, the graduates may view this video of the forum (see below) on the recognition ceremonies held on 14 May 2022. Any queries may be emailed to the Office of the Associate Dean for Student Formation at adsf.ls@ateneo.edu.

Keep well and happy!
