RE:
Professor Emeritus
I am pleased to announce that the Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Dr Cristina J Montiel as Professor Emeritus of the Loyola Schools.
Professors Emeriti are chosen on the basis of their distinguished academic record and University service. The title is conferred only after thorough consideration and discernment by the University. Through this distinction, the Emeritus Professor is encouraged to continue rendering active University service in different capacities and to help pass on the school’s culture to the next generation of faculty members and students.
Respected by both academics and practitioners alike, Dr Montiel has been recognized nationally and internationally for her work in social psychology and the psychology of peace building. In conferring on her the title of Professor Emeritus, it is the University’s hope that, through her research and teaching, she may continue to shed light on the psychology of Filipinos, help guide us towards a true society of peace, and influence more psychologists and scholars to use their skills and scholarship for nation building.
We offer our congratulations to Dr Montiel as well as our gratitude for her commitment to the University and the Filipino people.
