SUBJECT

Appointment of Mr Jervy M Robles as Grade School Headmaster

Upon the recommendation of the Search Committee for the Ateneo Grade School (AGS) Headmaster, and with the approval of the Executive Committee of the Ateneo de Manila Board of Trustees, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Jervy M Robles as Grade School Headmaster for a 3-year term, from 1 June 2021 to 31 May 2024.

Mr Robles is no stranger to the Ateneo having been a member of the AGS community for the past 25 years as teacher and administrator. Jervy currently serves as Assistant Headmaster for Academic Affairs since June 2020. Prior to this role, he held various positions as faculty member, Grade 5 Level Coordinator (2002-2008), Language Subject Area Coordinator (2010-2011), and Assistant Headmaster for Student Affairs (2011-2019). He holds an MA in Education from the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (2009), and an AB in Pre-Divinity from Ateneo de Manila University (1995).

On behalf of the Ateneo de Manila, I would like to thank Jervy for his magnanimity in taking on this mission in leading the Grade School.

As we welcome Jervy, we also express our profound gratitude to the late Fr Emerito Salustiano “Salty” R de la Rama SJ for his Ignatian generosity and dedication in serving as steward of the AGS since June 2018, as Officer-in-Charge, Acting Headmaster, and finally as Headmaster of the school.

We express our deep appreciation for the work done by the AGS Search Committee composed of Dr Isabel P Martin (Chair), Ms Vivian D David, Ms Niña Ann S Ajon, Ms Rowena Regina G Andrada, Ms Marites R Veloso, Ms Ma Rosario R Arespacochaga, and Fr Ruben B Orbeta Jr SJ. They readily gave their time to examine, interview, discern and recommend the most qualified candidates amidst their busy schedules.

Let us support our new Headmaster with our cooperation and prayers. May the Risen Lord give him strength and wisdom in shepherding the Grade School as it continues to form young Christ-centered Ateneans of competence, conscience, compassion and commitment.

(Sgd) Roberto C Yap SJ
President
