President (Memo from the BOT chairperson)

I would like to announce that, at its meeting on 6 May 2023, the Board of Trustees approved the re-appointment of Fr Roberto C Yap SJ (Fr. Bobby) as University President for a second three-year term from 1 June 2023 to 31 May 2026.

Fr Bobby was first appointed as the University President on 1 August 2020. Prior to Fr Bobby's first term as President, he served eleven years as a member of the Ateneo de Manila University Board of Trustees from 2008 to 2020.

During his presidency from August 2020 to May 2023, he very capably led the university through the pandemic and lockdowns, ensuring the continuation of school activities online, and adapting the organization to this mode of operation without much delay.

Fr Bobby also led the review and development of an updated University Strategic Plan, the Lux-in-Domino 2030, highlighting the new realities brought by the pandemic, the challenges facing Philippine education and the community at large, and the opportunities and risks to the university brought about by advances in technology, both digital and non-digital.

Fr Bobby has been very focused, passionate, and hardworking in leading the University’s efforts in developing its strategic plan, as well as guiding its implementation to ensure its successful execution in the years ahead.

Let us continue to pray for Fr Bobby and join him as we move forward together in our shared mission that is the Ateneo de Manila University.
