15 Dec 2023 | Office of the Assistant VP for Graduate Education
TO:
Deans, Department Chairs/Program Directors, Graduate Program Coordinators, Faculty, and Graduate Students of GBSEALD, SOH, JGSOM, SOSE, and SOSS
FROM:
(Sgd) Anne Lan K. Candelaria, PhD
Assistant Vice President for Graduate Education
SUBJECT:
Revised Submission Process and Deadlines for Graduate Thesis, Dissertation, and Capstone Project, Second Semester SY 2023-2024
As part of the transition to Higher Education, our office is continuously reviewing our processes to be more aligned with our revised mandate. Beginning this second semester, we will implement the following changes in the submission of the Thesis, Dissertation, and Capstone Project:
- The AVP-GradEd will no longer be the final approver of the thesis, dissertation, and capstone project. Instead, it will be the respective Deans who will give the final approval. This means that a later deadline for the TDCP submission can be implemented. Advisers and students now have more time to review and revise the final manuscripts.
- Override functions in the TDCP Approval System will be given to the Department Chairs and Program Directors. Please make sure to encode the names and email addresses of all approvers early. Kindly also ensure that the names and email addresses are correct to prevent unnecessary override requests.
- Style Readers are responsible for checking and confirming the completeness of the submitted requirements including the technical specifications.
To facilitate a smooth transition, our office will conduct an orientation/writeshop for style readers regarding Thesis/Dissertation/Capstone Project submission on Friday, 26 January 2024, from 2-3:30 pm. May I kindly request the departments/programs to provide the contact details of all your style readers on or before 20 January 2024 at this link. We will send a calendar invite to each one for the orientation. - Revised deadlines for the Second Semester SY 2023-2024

- Schools and departments may set an earlier deadline for the oral defense and TDCP submission if deemed necessary.
The revised Thesis, Dissertation, and Capstone Project guidelines will be released at a later date. In the meantime, I would like to share with you the following resources:
- Slide deck used during the Administrators’ Meeting
- Graduate Research Mentoring Framework Google Site
Lastly, my access to the TDCP Approval Portal as AVP-GradEd will be removed beginning 15 January 2024. Any errors or systems-based issues encountered by the student, adviser, and/or panel members should be directly referred to itsupport@ateneo.edu.
Please be guided accordingly. Thank you very much.
