Appointment of Conveners of the Campus Mobility Forum
I am pleased to announce the appointment of the following conveners of the Campus Mobility Forum:
1. Dr Czarina Saloma-Akpedonu | Dean, School of Social Sciences
2. Dr Fernando T Aldaba | Trustee, Ateneo de Manila University
3. Dr Anna Marie A Karaos | Trustee, Ateneo de Manila University; Associate Director, John J Carroll Institute on Church and Social Issues
4. Dr Jose Jowel P Canuday | Chair, Department of Sociology and Anthropology; Director, Tagpuan: Center for Dialogue, Research, and Collaboration
5. Dr Leland Joseph R Dela Cruz | Assistant Vice President for Social Development, Environment, and Community Engagement
6. Ms Abigail Marie T Favis | Program Manager for Campus Sustainability, Ateneo Institute of Sustainability
7. Fr Raymund Benedict Q Hizon SJ | Rector, Church of the Gesù; Chaplain, Higher Education (Professional Schools)
8. Ms Bernice Amanda A Mendoza | President, Sanggunian, Higher Education (Loyola Schools)
The following are the main responsibilities of the Forum:
1. To help the University administration in developing innovative solutions and sustainable campus mobility strategies by inviting the members of the University community to come together to express ideas freely, arrive at consensus discursively, and offer a program of action.
2. To convene small group discussions across the Basic Education, Higher Education schools, and affiliate units in the Loyola Heights campus. The participants will include students, faculty members, staff, parents, school bus/tricycle/private car drivers, alumni, administrators, Jesuits, as well as bikers, green spaces advocates, car users, pedestrians, public transport users, dormers, individuals with accessibility needs, among others.
3. To document ideas exchanged and prepare a report outlining a vision and a program of action for mobility on campus between now and 2030. The Forum will consider among others, policies and practices that will promote innovative strategies that will improve campus mobility consistent with long-term sustainability.
I have requested Dr Czarina Saloma-Akpedonu to chair the Forum and to submit the group’s report and recommendations to the Office of the President by 30 May 2024.
I take this opportunity to thank in advance the conveners of the Forum for accepting this important undertaking for the University and I enjoin everyone to actively participate in the forthcoming discussions as we reflect together on sustainable and environment-friendly solutions to improve campus mobility.
