Ateneo Junior High School and Senior High School Interim Councils (Memo U2324-117)

In the university memo released on 23 March 2021 (Memo # U2021-036), two separate interim School Councils for Ateneo Junior High School (AJHS) and Ateneo Senior High School (ASHS) were constituted. At present, AJHS and ASHS Councils continue to exist on an interim basis due to the ongoing reorganization in Basic Education.

Upon the recommendation of the Vice President for Basic Education to streamline the structure of the School Councils, the following will comprise the membership of the AJHS and ASHS Interim Councils:

Ex-officio members:

• the Principal
• the Assistant Principal for Academics
• the Assistant Principal for Administration
• the Assistant Principal for Formation
• the Chair of the School Forum
• the Vice-Chair of the School Forum

Elected members:

• 9 elected members from the faculty following the guidelines and limitations set by the Bylaws. The AJHS and ASHS will conduct in their respective schools the election of their 9 additional council members.

The Vice President for Basic Education will announce the names of the School Council members at the beginning of next school year. While the membership of Ateneo Grade School Council is already defined and functional, these changes in the composition of AJHS and ASHS Interim Councils will help rationalize the structure of these groups that are essential in providing the members of each Basic Education school a voice and a space to enact changes or improvements in school policy.
