SUBJECT

Spiritual Nourishment Through the Eucharist

As we may have noticed, the Church of the Gesu has been more frequently used for Eucharistic Celebrations that engage the entire community. Through the initiative of Fr. Raymund Benedict Q. Hizon, SJ or Fr. RB as he is fondly known, Rector of the Gesu, this First Semester SY 2024-2025, the Gesu will honor 'special' occasions of the Church and of the Ateneo de Manila. These masses will be prepared collaboratively by the Church of the Gesu, the Office of Campus Ministry (HE-LS), and the Office for Mission and Identity.

Aug 15 (Thursday)

The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Sept 6 (Friday)

The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Oct 1 (Tuesday)

The October Medal: An Atenean tradition of honoring and professing love and devotion to our Blessed Mother

Nov 5 (Tuesday)

Mass for the Dead: In view of the Solemnity of All Saints and the Feast of All Souls

Dec 6 (Friday)

The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception

The masses for these special occasions will be held at 12 noon to allow more colleagues and students to join them. As we journey through this semester, maybe there will be changes in dates and times but such will be announced to the community with ample time for adjustments.

We would like to encourage the community to participate in the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.  We owe it to our Creator to celebrate the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus, who died on the cross for our sake and for the salvation of all humankind and who resurrected from the dead that we may have eternal life.

Eucharist is from the Greek word ‘eucharistia’ which means ‘thanksgiving.’  No one can fathom the many blessings we receive through this thanksgiving.  Only experience can tell us so. Let’s allow ourselves to have that experience renewed.
