SUBJECT:

Faculty Wellness Festival

Welcome again to the start of the Second Semester SY 2024-2025.

Starting this Jubilee Year of Hope, we are changing the nature of our Second Semester Faculty Day into one that focuses on the promotion of wellness and well-being. Missy Maramara, School Forum Chair, and I had a spirited discussion last week on this idea. And we shall call this day, Faculty Wellness Festival!

The date is movable, depending on the flow of our activities in the semester.  This year, the Faculty Wellness Festival is slated for 11 April 2025.  It is preceded by the AUN-QA Institutional Assessment and the PAASCU accreditation visit of our graduate programs, followed by Holy Week and then the world of exams for graduating undergraduate students as well starting the rounds of thesis/dissertation orals for graduate students on the Loyola Campus. And then, the turning in of grades. Our doctors in ASMPH, lawyers in ALS, as well as faculty in AGSB and ASOG have their specific cycle of activities too, but we believe, they will also benefit from this day of a wellness pause. On the afternoon of April 11th is the University Scholarly Work Awards: an opportune time for us to come together to celebrate scholarly achievements, a serendipitous culmination of blessings!

Mark that Friday, 11th April, in your calendars.  That day undergraduate classes are suspended for the day. Graduate classes of the following schools on the Loyola Heights campus will be suspended from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm:  Gokongwei Brothers School of Education (GBSEALD), John Gokongwei School of Management (JGSOM), School of Humanities (SOH), School of Science and Engineering (SOSE), and Dr Rosita G Leong School of Social Sciences (RGL SOSS). Arrangements for classes in ASMPH, AGSB, Ateneo Law, and ASOG are left to the discretion of the respective deans in consideration of the unique circumstances of each of these schools.

And watch this space for further details on how that day will be arrayed with activities that will pique your interest and whisk you away to relax in the company of colleagues in our community.

Enjoy a good semester!
