Deanship of the Ateneo de Manila School of Government (Memo U2425-067)

20 Jan 2025 | Office of the President

Memo # U2425-067
20 Jan 2025

Memo to                  :

The Higher Education Community

Subject                     :

Deanship of the Ateneo de Manila School of Government

The term of Dr Philip Arnold P Tuaño, Dean of the Ateneo School of Government (ASoG), ends at the close of SY 2024-2025. I write the Higher Education community to help me form a Search Committee for the Dean of the ASOG for a 3-year term (SY 2025-2026 to SY 2027-2028) who will deliberate and discern about ASOG’s leadership, priorities, and needs, and nominate to my office possible names for its deanship.

It would be good for the Higher Education Community to go through a process of obtaining:

  1. Nominations for a Search Committee and
  2. Feedback along the following lines:
    1. What are the priority needs and expectations of the ASOG at this time?
    2. What would be the qualities most important for the Dean to possess to enable the ASoG to respond to these needs and expectations?
    3. Who might be possible candidates for the ASoG Dean?

I would appreciate it if the nominations for the members of the Search Committee and feedback could be submitted to the Office of the President (president@ateneo.edu) on or before 03 February 2025.

I shall then appoint the Search Committee which will go through the next steps of the process:

  1. Creating a list of possible candidates;
  2. Interviewing the candidates and resource persons;
  3. Recommending three possible names to the President

The target is for the Search Committee to finish its report by 03 March 2025. This will give me ample time to make my recommendation to the Executive Committee of the Board at its meeting in March. A decision by the first week of April will ensure better transition in school leadership.

Thank you.

(Sgd) Roberto C Yap SJ
