Hearing Aid Helps Open Your Ears to the Soundscape Around You

Listen closely. The drone of insects, the wind through the trees, the murmur of running water, the rumble of vehicles, the ringing of the bell - all these sounds are carried through the air but their meanings are firmly attached to the spaces we inhabit.

The team has been building a collection of audio recordings from various spaces of the Loyola Schools campus. This features sounds of living things (biophony), sounds of wind, water, thunder (geophony), and manmade noise (anthrophony) to challenge us to listen to our environment and deepen our connection with nature. Soundscapes flavor our spaces and giving meaning to our experiences of urban biodiversity and ecosystems.

The Hearing Aid Sandbox Exhibit was at the Eduardo J Aboitiz Sandbox Zone (3/F George SK Ty Learning Innovation Wing, Arete) from 12 - 14 February 2020.
