Strengthening Ateneo's ties with South Korea

On 25 May 2022, the Ateneo Korean Studies Program (KSP) and the Rizal Library, led by their respective directors, Mr Oliver John C Quintana and Dr Vernon R Totanes, warmly welcomed Ms Gu Hwayeong, Second Secretary for Public Diplomacy from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Philippines. Gu was on campus to discuss ways to enhance and expand the University’s efforts in further developing and promoting Korean studies in the Philippines.

In 2012, the Rizal Library became the first recipient of the “Window on Korea” in the country, a collection of 3,805 print and non-print materials which included research papers, books, magazines, and other audio-visual materials that feature and tackle Korean language, history, traditions, and culture. The KSP office in Leong Hall also houses the “Korea Corner,” another collection of learning materials from the Korea Foundation that can be used by teachers and students.
