The Ateneo Intellectual Property Office (AIPO) embarked on a study mission in Malaysia from June 5 to June 11, 2023, accompanied by members of the Ateneo Technology Business Incubation (TBI) team, including Ms Vanessa Malapit, Ms Wilma Alamar, and Ms May Ann Udtojan.

The primary objective of this mission was to facilitate AIPO's expansion and foster valuable collaborations.

The study mission provided AIPO a platform to engage with various Malaysian organizations. Prominent among these were Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology and Innovation (MRANTI), Entrepreneurs Empowering Entrepreneurs Hubs (E3Hubs), the University of Malaya, and Sunway iLabs Foundry.

Discussions with MRANTI revolved around preparing a partnership agreement between MRANTI and AIPO to foster research and development assistance, market research, and virtual meet-ups between Malaysia and the Philippines.

Similar efforts were made with E3Hubs to establish a partnership that would facilitate student engagement programs and joint startup events.

AIPO's participation in a networking event organized by E3Hubs provided them with a platform to engage with potential partners and investors. Valuable connections were established, emphasizing the importance of effective networking strategies and follow-up to nurture professional relationships.

AIPO plans to facilitate startup and student exposure to diverse startup cultures through workshops and visits. They aim to provide in-depth insights into the startup culture and innovation environment globally.

The study mission conducted by AIPO in Malaysia served as a catalyst for expansion and collaboration. Through engagement with MRANTI, E3Hubs, and Sunway iLabs Foundry, AIPO aims to strengthen its position in the startup ecosystem and contribute to the establishment of a vibrant global startup network. The study mission's positive outcomes provide AIPO with valuable insights and actionable recommendations to fuel their growth and facilitate meaningful collaborations.
