The Ateneo Korean Studies Program, under the School of Social Sciences, successfully hosted the first Test of Proficiency in Korean Internet-based Test (TOPIK IBT) in the Philippines on 18 November 2023. A total of 142 examinees from different parts of the country took the test at the PLDT-CTC Building inside the Loyola campus in Quezon City.
TOPIK I was administered in the morning and TOPIK II in the afternoon. The National Institute for International Education (NIIED) technical team arrived from Korea and worked with their counterparts from the Office of the Vice President for Digital Information and Technology Services (OVP-DITS) to ensure the integrity of the computer systems and stable connectivity. Together, they also provided other IT-related support services prior to and throughout the test.
TOPIK is a globally recognized assessment of proficiency in the Korean language. It evaluates language skills in listening, reading, writing, and speaking. The test is taken by individuals who have learned Korean for various purposes, such as further education, employment, and cultural engagement.
Ateneo de Manila University is the exclusive testing center authorized by NIIED of the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Education to conduct the TOPIK IBT in the Philippines. The results of the test will be available on the TOPIK website on 19 December 2023.
