The spirit of Christmas arrived early in Gawad Kalinga (GK) Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija, thanks to the heartwarming "Paskuhan 2023" outreach program that brought smiles to the community. On December 3, 2023, a group of dedicated volunteers consisting of Ateneo de Manila Grade School (AGS) faculty, staff, parents, student-leaders and custodians embarked on a mission to spread holiday cheer, together with Ateneo Center for Educational Development (ACED) personnel.

Upon their arrival at the site, former Ateneo de Manila University President and adviser to ACED Fr. Ben Nebres SJ, together with ACED and AGS volunteers, were greeted by bright eyes and excited faces. Children eagerly awaited what was to happen next, their anticipation palpable in the air.
The day started with a mass celebrated by visiting priest Fr. Benjamin M Javier III. The event proper kicked off with a series of interactive activities, carefully designed to bring joy to the children. From face-painting and storytelling to playing games and creating arts, crafts, and music, the space buzzed with infectious energy as children participated with enthusiasm.

The highlight of the program was undoubtedly the distribution of simple gifts. Each child received a toy, while his or her family received a simple Noche Buena pack lovingly prepared by the AGS Kinder family. The grateful smiles and twinkling eyes were a testament to the impact of this simple act of kindness, reminding everyone of the true spirit of Christmas, which is to give without expecting anything in return.

But the impact of the outreach program went beyond the immediate joy and excitement. It created a sense of community and unity, bringing people together to celebrate the season of giving. The volunteers, driven by their desire to make a difference, forged bonds with the local residents, leaving behind a lasting impression of kindness and compassion.
As the program concluded, the echoes of laughter and happy chatter lingered in the air, a sweet reminder of the warmth and joy that had filled the day.

This outreach program headed by the AGS Social Involvement Office (SIO) coordinator, Ms. Sunshine Cantilang, served as a beacon of hope, one that reminded everyone that even the smallest act of generosity can make a world of difference.
