Empowering Disability Policy Leaders: AUN-DPPnet's Scholarship Program for Graduate Students with Disabilities
01 Mar 2024
In 2016, the ASEAN University Network Disability and Public Policy Network (AUN-DPPnet) was created. The Nippon Foundation of Japan has been providing financial support to this network, which aims to develop a group of disability policy leaders who can create an inclusive, barrier-free, and rights-based ASEAN region. AUN-DPPnet is dedicated to providing training and opportunities to these leaders, empowering them to influence policies that affect persons with disabilities in ASEAN and worldwide.
AUN-DPPnet, hosted by Universiti Malaya, focuses on providing scholarships to students with disabilities pursuing Master's Degrees. The network, led by Chairman Prof. Dr. Yvonne Lim Ai Lian and AUN-DPPnet Director Prof. Dr. Yahaya Ahmad, actively facilitates postgraduate, internship, and fellowship programs. It encourages the sharing of evidence-based practices, addresses accessibility and disability issues, conducts continuing education and capacity-building programs, fosters collaborative research, and serves as a resource body for policymaking to governments and related agencies within AUN and ASEAN countries.
As a member of AUN, Ateneo is committed to promoting disability rights. As part of this commitment, the university offers a scholarship program to graduate students with disabilities. The Tuition (20%) Scholarship for Persons with Disabilities provides qualified PWD graduate students with tuition assistance.
