A soaring, banner year for Ateneo Scouting

10 May 2024

The Ateneo de Manila Grade School Scouting sections capped off an incredible year, brimming with activities that nurtured young leaders and fostered a vibrant scouting community. Let's revisit some of these highlights that showcased teamwork, skill development, and that uniquely special Ateneo spirit!

KID Scouts: Planting the Seeds of Scouting!

On April 23rd, Singson Hall echoed with the laughter and excitement of our youngest heroes – the KID Scouts! Their "cool-minating" activity wasn't just playtime; it was a chance to build the foundation for their Scouting journey. Adding a special touch, Scouter Julio Miguel Vergara, chairman of the BSP Cabanatuan Council and a proud parent of a Kinder Scout, shared his own Scouting experiences. His inspiring stories reminded everyone that the values learned in Scouting take root early and last a lifetime!

KAB Scouts: Level Up with Honors!

The KAB Scouts celebrated their achievements on April 17th, 2024, at their very own Court of Honor. Scouter Errol Eugenio S. Garcia, ALT with CMT, Scout Executive BSP Quezon City Council delivered a motivating message about embracing new challenges as scouts progress through the Scouting ranks. The ceremony culminated in the much-anticipated awarding of Leaping Usa Rank, the highest rank of the Kab Scouting Section, a testament to the scouts’ dedication and growth within the program.

Boy Scouts Honored: Leaders in the Making!

The Boy Scouts took center stage on April 18th, 2024, at their Institutional Court of Honor. This prestigious event recognized their well-deserved advancement in rank and celebrated their exceptional leadership qualities. As the Scouts were honored for their commitment and hard work, thunderous applause greeted them.

History Made: A "Pasa Masid" for All!

The various Ateneo Scouting Sections made history on April 19th, 2024, when a unique "Pasa Masid" was held at the Church of the Gesu. The event brought together KID Scouts, KAB Scouts, Boy Scouts, Senior Scouts, and Rover Scouts in a magnificent display of unity. The event marked a significant milestone for Ateneo, which became the first private educational institution to unite all five Scouting sections under one roof! Following a heartwarming Thanksgiving Mass, a closing ceremony and final salute at the Bellarmine Field capped off the momentous occasion.

A Huge Thank You!

This incredible year wouldn't have been possible without the dedication of so many. We extend our sincerest gratitude to the Institutional headship of our VPBE Fr. Joaquin Jose Mari Sumpaico SJ, the guidance of OSA Coordinator Ms. Ayeth Pacle, and the outstanding leadership of our commissioners: Ms. Steff Guillermo for KID, Mrs. Cars Mortillero for KAB, and Mr. Mark Catarroja for BOY Scouts.

The Ateneo Scouting Movement's year has been a shining example of teamwork, skills development, and a commitment to service. With a strong foundation laid, our scouters are geared up for exciting adventures by SY ‘24-25 that will foster the next generation of leaders who embody the spirit of Ateneo scouting!
