The Career Discovery Forum Philippines (CDF PH) 2024, held on March 16, 2024, at Escaler Hall, Ateneo de Manila University aimed to connect students with the realities of the job market. Organized by Leave a Nest Philippines and the Ateneo Intellectual Property Office (AIPO), the event addressed the challenges recent graduates face in transitioning from academics to professional careers.

Bringing the Academe and Industry Together

Over 50 students from top universities like the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) and Mapúa University participated in CDF PH 2024. Through workshops and discussions, the forum helped bridge the gap between what students learn in school and the skills employers seek.

The event enjoyed strong support from various companies. BossJob served as Co-Organizer, while SolX Technologies Inc. was the Diamond Partner. Other notable supporters included Cocoro Embody (Gold Partner), Legazpi Eye Center, Medical Test Systems (MEDTEST), Assurance Controls Technologies Co. (Silver Partners), and Monde Nissin Corporation, Zuellig Family Foundation, and Ibiden Philippines (Bronze Partners).

From Inspiration to Action

The forum opened with a speech by Jondi Doplayna, Project Lead at Leave a Nest, who emphasized the organization's mission to connect academic preparation with industry needs. Jewel Santos then led a panel discussion featuring industry leaders like Richard Milante (Legazpi Eye Center) and Peter Cauton (Humanae Ventures) who explored the current job market landscape.

Kurt Prieto, from SolX Technologies, delivered a keynote speech focusing on innovation in energy solutions. Students also had the opportunity to directly interact with potential employers through company presentations.

The afternoon offered practical workshops led by companies like SolX Technologies (energy solutions), Cocoro Embody (technologies for people with disabilities), Ardent World (work culture), and Assurance Controls Technologies (workplace expectations).

A Catalyst for Collaboration and Innovation

CDF PH 2024 fostered a valuable space for students and industry representatives to connect, discuss, and collaborate. This aligns with Leave a Nest's vision of nurturing future innovators and leaders for a better world through advancements in science and technology. The event set a new standard for future initiatives aimed at bridging the gap between academia and industry needs, making it a significant step forward for career development in the Philippines.
