Ayon kay Nikki B. Carsi Cruz, katuwang na propesor sa Department of Interdisciplinary Studies, Pamantasang Ateneo de Manila: “Jerry Respeto’s work is a relevant gift to all Filipinos in a time of eco-anxiety and climate crisis. What we need is to recover the sacred, and the people of Pakil can show us a way how. To read this epic work is to enter deeply into Pakil’s culture world—offering a way of seeing and sensing the world as Pakilenyos do—where the arts and acts of devotion serve to connect the seen and unseen—and where the sacred (in the natural and spiritworlds) is always honored and respected.”
