Ateneo Children’s Theater proudly presents its 91st Season Production: The Big One-Oh! JR. — A Musical Celebration of Growing Up

For nearly a century, the Ateneo Children’s Theater (ACT) has been a beloved space where young talents take the stage and bring stories to life with heart, humor, and creativity. On its 91st season, ACT is thrilled to present The Big One-Oh! JR., a vibrant and heartwarming musical based on the novel by Dean Pitchford, with music by Doug Besterman, lyrics by Dean Pitchford, and a book by Timothy Allen McDonald.

The Big One-Oh! JR. tells the story of Charley Maplewood, a boy who has spent his whole life on the outside looking in. As his tenth birthday approaches—a milestone he dubs The Big One-Oh! —Charley dreams of celebrating it with the first real birthday party of his life. With his overactive imagination, a dash of courage, and a little help from some quirky new friends, Charley embarks on a wild adventure to throw the most epic party ever. But as plans spiral hilariously out of control, Charley learns that friendships—like growing up—can be messy, surprising, and wonderfully worth it.

A celebration of imagination, self-discovery, and the magic of childhood, The Big One-Oh! JR. is a delightful musical that speaks to children and the young at heart. Packed with catchy songs, relatable characters, and moments of laughter and heart, this production promises to be a memorable experience for families, students, and theater lovers.
