[AGS] Human Rights Consciousness Week
09 Dec 2025
What are Human Rights? These are the basics that EVERY person was born with. No matter who you are or where you come from, we are all given these basic rights simply by being ALIVE.
Human Rights are for EVERYONE and exist so that YOU are safe, protected from harm, and unfair treatment. At their core, Human Rights are about living with DIGNITY, EQUITY, and EQUALITY.
Some Human Rights that we all have are:
The right to live and be safe
The right to food and a home
The right to go to school and learn
The right to be treated equally and not be discriminated against
The right to have and express your own opinions
The right to be paid fairly for your work
This year’s theme for the UN Human Rights Day is “Human Rights, Our Everyday Essentials.”
Why are they everyday essentials? Because everyone we meet, regardless of who they are, where they live, and what they believe in, deserves to be treated with respect, kindness, and compassion.
Is it easy to treat everyone with kindness, respect, and compassion? Not all the time. In fact, there will be people and situations that continue to test our resolve to be better people for others.
What can we do?
Learn about human rights and share what you learn with friends and family.
