[AGS] Mom's Month
03 Feb 2026
The Steadfast Love of Mothers
As we welcome the month of February, the Month of Love, let us also take this opportunity to honor and celebrate our mothers, those who have poured out their love for us even before we were born. Their care, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication continue to shape our lives each day.
Mothers are often recognized for their compassion and commitment—qualities that shape how they navigate daily life and influence their families and communities. One profound expression of a mother’s compassion is her patience with her children. While our own patience is often tested by everyday challenges such as waiting in long lines or dealing with traffic, mothers extend theirs even further. Despite repeated reminders to complete tasks such as household chores or homework, they continue to offer gentle guidance, always prioritizing what is best for their children and hoping that the lessons they impart will have a lasting impact on their lives.
Commitment, likewise, is evident in the extraordinary balance mothers maintain. Even while juggling multiple responsibilities, they keep everything going. Tasks that may seem impossible and overwhelming in a single day become achievable through a mother’s steadfast love, dedication, and resilience.
As Pope Francis said, “A society without mothers would be a dehumanized society, for mothers are always, even in the worst moments, witnesses of tenderness, dedication, and moral strength.” Mothers worldwide possess unique qualities, yet their compassion and commitment remain universal values that resonate deeply. It is therefore upon us—as their children, and for those of us who are mothers ourselves—to acknowledge their sacrifices and express our heartfelt gratitude.
