Alumni kick off 2026 with "Back to Basics" line dancing success
05 Feb 2026
The Office of University Development and Alumni Affairs began 2026 on a high note with the success of its first event, Back to Basics: School of Line Dancing. Proving that the alumni spirit is alive among the young and old, gathering a wide range of stakeholders, from an Ateneo Board of Trustee s member to an enthusiastic second-grader. This took place on 24 January 2026 from 9 am to 10:30 am at the Higher Education Dance Studio.

Mr. Allen Isidro, an AB Economics ‘75 alumnus who is an advocate of American Line Dancing based in San Francisco, made the workshop not only doable and scientifically straightforward (with simple and easy-to-recall) steps, but he also fostered a spirit of energy and enthusiasm that left participants wanting more, so much so that he ended up not just teaching two dances, but basic cha-cha as well to the eager and very engaged group.

Everyone who attended the workshop, from the youngest Atenean to the oldest alumnus who is almost eighty years old, agreed that they had FUN! As Fr. RB Hizon, SJ, OUDAA Director commented, "We all took part—myself included, alongside so many others from the school, ranging from an alumnus in his 80s to an administrator and a trustee.” Moving forward, this is definitely the beginning of many wellness initiatives from the Dev & Alum office for Ateneo alumni, parents, and friends.

See you at the next workshop on 7 Feb 2026 from 9AM - 10:30 AM at the Dance Studio, Formation Learning Center, Ateneo de Manila Senior High School!
