Sapang Palay outreach: Ateneo parents for and with others
06 Feb 2026
Parent volunteers from Ateneo de Manila University's Basic Education schools, together with the Office of University Development and Alumni Affairs, held an outreach activity at Barangay Buhay F Integrated School in Sapang Palay, San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, last 29 November 2025. It was their gesture to thank the foster families who generously welcomed their Ateneo Junior High School and Senior High School children during their immersions.

More than an outreach, their gift to the community was enduring and transformative—the gift of knowledge. Despite the hard rain, 70 participants filled the venue and spent the afternoon learning from Mr Martin Navarro, an AB Development Studies Batch 1997 graduate who works in a financing company as a learning and development manager. He taught them financial literacy lessons such a saving, budgeting, and making informed financial decisions.
“We wanted to give back a gift of lasting value—essential skills that empower them every day… We believe sustainable upliftment is achieved by sharing knowledge, not just material things,” parent volunteer Ricky Peneyra shared.
For the nanays in the community, this fulfilling event has become a lifelong tool for planting the seeds of financial security for the future.
This initiative is only the beginning—the Dev and Alum Office are planning several exciting outreach activities to reach more underprivileged communities with our dedicated Ateneo parents.
