Active Alumni Weekends: Experience Limberdance Together!
26 Mar 2026
Get ready to move because Back to Basics returns with a dynamic Limberdance workshop!
Organized by the Ateneo University Development and Alumni Affairs (Ateneo Dev&Alum), it was held on 14 March 2026 at the LS Dance Studio in the Loyola Heights campus. This workshop was led by Ms. Liza de la Fuente, MFA, the director of Ridgepointe Ballet and co-alumna from Class of 1987.
Interestingly, Ms. Liza first joined as a participant in Mr. Allen Isidro’s “Back to Basics: School of Line Dancing.” Inspired by her experience, she volunteered to teach a therapeutic dance style—giving rise to the Limberdance workshop!
Before they begin, Ms. Liza stressed the importance of movement, “We have to keep on moving because it is also how we hydrate our muscles apart from drinking enough water.”
To BTS songs as accompaniment, the group did both standing and floor stretches, then strutted throughout the entire dance studio in different walking styles. They ended the session learning their first Limberdance choreography to Demi Lovato’s “Stone Cold.”
The choreography looked challenging at first, but with Ms. Liza’s thorough guidance, the community executed the steps with ease, leaving them wanting more!
Participants appreciated the workshop for its purposeful free-flowing movements, as well as its fun team dance. They also enjoyed the positive atmosphere fostered by laughter and a welcoming venue.
Even better, Limberdance continues with four more weekend sessions on March 28, May 9, 23, and 30—perfect opportunities to jump in and join the fun!
