Igniting more opportunities through the SAGE Scholarship Endowment Fund

Ateneo de Manila University and the Samahan ng mga Atenistang Graduate ng Economics and Management Economics (SAGE) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on 5 March 2026  for the establishment of the SAGE Scholarship Endowment Fund.

The signing brought together SAGE President Ms Mary Rose "Rose" M Fres-Fausto (AB EC '85), Mr Gaudencio "Goody" S. Hernandez Jr (AB EC '72), Mr Julio Manuel "Joly" P Macuja II (AB EC-H '85), and University President Fr Roberto C Yap SJ, who himself is an Economics graduate from batch 1980 and a proud SAGE member.

As shared by Ms Rose, the SAGE Scholarship Endowment Fund was launched in 2025 with a donation of P5,000,000.00 from the class of 1975. Adding to this generosity, the class of 1972 donated P361,000.00, while the class of 1985 donated P508,750.00.

“We are very happy to hand all of this to you. And we hope that this fund will help educate students to become the next generation of economists who are formed in the Ateneo,” Ms Rose said. Her words echo the hope and faith that every gift given becomes a seed for greatness, nurturing young minds to become agents of positive change.

The MOA signing was witnessed by esteemed members of the Ateneo community: Economics Department Chair Dr Noel P De Guzman, University Board of Trustees member Dr Fernando “Nandy” T Aldaba, Office of University Development and Alumni Affairs (OUDAA) Director Fr Raymund Benedict "RB" Hizon SJ, Donor Relations Head Ms Jeng Manglallan, Advancement Officer Ms. Regine Cinco, Office of Admission and Aid (OAA) Director Dr Jose Maria Edito "Jo-Ed" K Tirol, and Ateneo Alumni Association (AAA) President Atty Stephanie Gaile Baltao-Basilio.
