Commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution
Our University President, Fr Roberto C Yap SJ, has invited us to a University Mass in Commemoration of EDSA People Power@40 on Tuesday, 24 February 2026, 10:30 am at the Blue Eagle Gym. The Eucharistic celebration will be preceded by a procession and recitation of the Holy Rosary.
To allow the members of the community to attend the mass, undergraduate and graduate classes of the Schools of Education and Learning Design, Humanities, Management, Science and Engineering, and Social Sciences will be suspended from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm on 24 February. Classes resume in the afternoon – from 12:30 pm onwards. For the Schools of Medicine and Public Health, Law, Government, and Business, the respective deans of these schools are enjoined to make appropriate decisions on class schedules that day suited to their contexts.
Please take note that Fr Yap has declared a University Holiday on Wednesday, 25 February 2026. The Higher Education community is encouraged to join the Ateneo contingent that will take part in the EDSA@40 commemoration activities at the EDSA Shrine and People Power Monument.
True to our core values as Ateneans, we treat with thoughtful reflection, genuine conviction, and utmost care the milestones that we have been gifted with in our lives and in our society. Let’s honor and value the memory of EDSA 1986 by coming together as a community in the many activities that have been prepared for this year’s commemoration.
May we learn our lessons from EDSA 1986 with courage, hope, pride, and dignity.
