Deanship of the Dr Rosita G Leong School of Social Sciences (Memo # U2526-071)

Following the appointment of Dr Czarina A Saloma-Akpedonu as the new Vice President for Higher Education effective 1 June 2026, I have formed a Search Committee for the next Dean of the Dr Rosita G Leong School of Social Sciences (RGLSOSS). The committee will evaluate the school’s leadership needs and priorities and nominate possible candidates for a three-year term (SY 2026–2027 to SY 2028–2029).

To help the Search Committee in its work, it would be good for the Higher Education community to go through a process of obtaining feedback on the following questions:

1. What are the priority needs and expectations of the RGLSOSS at this time?
2. What would be the qualities most important for the Dean to possess to enable the RGLSOSS to respond to these needs and expectations?
3. Who might be possible candidates for the RGLSOSS Dean? 

I would appreciate it if the feedback could be submitted to the Office of the President (president@ateneo.edu) on or before 28 February 2026.

The Search Committee will then go through the next steps of the process:

1. Creating a list of possible candidates
2. Interviewing candidates and key informants
3. Recommending three possible names to the President 

The target is for the Search Committee to finish its report by mid-April 2026. This will enable me to make a recommendation to the Board of Trustees in time for its regular meeting on 2 May 2026.
