Tribute to Dr Alfredo Rafael Antonio Jimenez Bengzon
The AGSB Community mourns the passing of Dr Alran Bengzon. He was AGSB Dean from 1993 to 2007; the longest-serving Dean of our School. Under his leadership, AGSB grew in prominence, while remaining always grounded in the Ignatian values that he patiently instilled in each member of the faculty and reinforced in generations of students.
Dr Bengzon was also the founding Dean of the Ateneo School for Medicine and Public Health and the Vice President for the Professional Schools. He served as the Philippines' Secretary of Health from 1986-1992. He received the Lux in Domino Award from Ateneo de Manila University in 2010 and the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Government Service in 1991, among his many achievements.
