Loyola Schools’ Dr. Rosula Reyes has been named recipient of the Distinction Award for Electronic and Communication Engineer Profession in the Academe/Research Development Category by the Philippine Federation of Professional Associations (PFPA).

Dr. Rosula Reyes

Established in 2005, the awards were established to recognize the exceptional contributions of members-professionals in their practice of profession.

Reyes, an Associate Professor at the Department of Electronics, Computer, and Communications Engineering (ECCE) has been a faculty standout since joining Ateneo de Manila in 1996. She was also the department chairperson from 2004-2009 and 2014-2019. In 2019, Reyes was awarded the Inspiring Filipina Engineer by the Women Engineers’ Network- Philippine Technological Council. The Philippine Professional Regulations Commission also honored her as an Outstanding Professional in the field of Electronics Engineering in 2011. She was recognized as Outstanding Isabeleño for Science and Technology by the Provincial Government of Isabela in 2014 and Most Outstanding Ilagueño by the City of Ilagan, Isabela in 2012.

“When I was 7 years old, I used to play school with my siblings, I was happy being the teacher. When I turned 18 years old, I used to teach Basic Electronics to out-of-school youth, I was happy to share the limited knowledge I learned in school. This love for teaching deepened at 21 years old. This was the year that I started teaching in college, I was learning more with my students. After a decade of my teaching-learning experience, teaching became my passion. Teaching became even more meaningful with the research I've done and their impact on the advancement of technology that led to my mission in life. Now that I am 66 years old and a retired part-time research faculty, my mission continues,” Rosula says. “I believe that the Lord knows our talents and competencies, thus, He provides the channel where we can grow, serve, and be an instrument for the betterment of humanity and for His greater glory.”
