DENMARK– Datatilsynet, the country’s data protection agency, has declared that data processing involving students that make use of Google’s cloud-based Workspace software suite does not meet the requirements of the EU GDPR. Apparently, Google’s terms and conditions allow data transfer to non-EU countries even though said data is ordinarily stored in one of Google’s EU data centers. READ HERE

AUSTRALIA – The University of Western Australia (UWA) has asked the police to investigate a data breach that may have compromised student data. According to UWA, an unauthorized login to its student information management system allowed access to data including names, student IDs, images, birthdates, contact details, course details, and grades of current and former students. CANADA – After having been the target of a cyberattack, the Waterloo Region District School Board says they are working to restore their IT system and safeguard the personal information of staff, students, and families.
