AUSTRALIA – To monitor student mobility and deter damage, Moorebank High School decided to put fingerprint scanners at the entrance of its restrooms. Nearly all of its students have already given their fingerprint data. UNITED STATES – A cyberattack on the Los Angeles Unified School District that utilized a “ransomware tool” disabled computer systems, preventing staff and students from accessing their emails. The systems used by teachers to publish lessons and record attendance were also down. The district’s website was also knocked down. READ HERE

SRI LANKA– A student was arrested for hacking the Department of Examinations’ official website to retrieve data on the 2021 GCE Advanced Level Examination results and displayed them on a separate web portal. Data pertaining to nearly 270,000 pupils were affected. READ HERE
