Through the Sandbox Residency Program, Areté offers groups of academics, artists, professionals, and students the financial resources and physical space to interact, exchange ideas, and work on projects that marry their interests towards a common goal.
Areté supports collaborations that involve research and incorporate artistic processes and interventions, and also engage communities outside the academic and artistic worlds.

The Sandbox Residency Grant
Calling those who’ve had an idea that they’ve wanted to tinker or play with but were unsure of the outcome. The Sandbox Residency Grant provides first-time applicants with funding for exploring a problem space that may generate innovation and creative solutions. The potential innovation lends itself not only to interdisciplinarity but also to the bridging of bridges across disciplines, displaying how the fields within the humanities, sciences, social sciences, and management may be merged in its possible outcome or expression.
The Areté x AIS Sustainability Sandbox Grant
In collaboration with the Ateneo Institute for Sustainability (AIS), the AIS x Areté Sandbox Grant challenges educators, designers, and innovators to explore, develop, and test creative sustainability education materials for basic education that can be used in the Philippines. Applicants are encouraged to submit applications that connect to the theme: Young Enough to Save the Planet.
Sandbox Residency Renewal Application
Areté invites current Sandbox residents who wish to extend their residency for an additional year to apply for an extension to their current Sandbox grant.
HOW TO APPLY:
1. Starting October 10, 2022, application forms may be downloaded from Areté's official website: https://arete.ateneo.edu/sandbox-application
2. Email the completed form and related documents to sandbox.arete@ateneo.edu with the subject line: "SANDBOX APPLICATION 2023 - [Name of Group]"
Deadline for submission is November 11, 2022.
