The Ateneo de Manila University - School of Government (ASoG), ADMU School of Social Sciences Institute of Philippine Culture (IPC), in collaboration with the British Embassy Manila (BEM), the Provincial Health Officers Association of the Philippines (PHOAP), and the National Health Service United Kingdom, conducted a hybrid learning session on “Health Information as a National Ecosystem: Design Principles and Considerations when Implementing National Flows for National and Regional Footprints” with Dr. Alex Elias from the NHS Digital UK on 12 October 2022, from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at the CTC 101 Global Classroom in Ateneo and via Zoom.
The talk focused on the experience of the NHS Digital UK on digital transformation, and particularly how that might relate to evolving and developing systems such as that of the Philippines. The learning session was attended by around 180 Zoom participants ranging from medical practitioners to public health experts, and 30 onsite participants from the academe, the health sector, and government. Dr Enrique Tayag, MD, PHSAE, FPSMID, CESO III of the Department of Health, and Dr Anna Maria Teresa De Guzman, MD, MPH, President of PHOAP, offered responses to Dr Elias' inputs.
The event is the latest contribution of the ASOG, IPC, BEM, PHOAP, and NHS Digital UK to the ongoing discourse on universal health care and the essential building blocks of health systems in the Philippines.
