Daisy Marasigan, 59

18 Oct 2022

Ms. Daisy Marasigan

It is with deep sadness that we inform the community of the passing of † Ms. Daisy N. Marasigan on 17 October 2022 at the age of 59.

Ms. Marasigan, fondly called Coach Daisy, was a faculty member of Ateneo de Manila Grade School. She taught music for 36 years and, at the time of her passing, was the Faculty Development Coordinator and part of the Executive Council of the Association of Faculty and Staff of the Ateneo Grade School (AFSAGS). She  taught generations of Ateneans, having handled the Ateneo Boys Choir for many years and served as musical director of the Ateneo Children's Theater. She was also a pioneer of the Kodaly method of Music Education in the country. She was president of the Kodaly Society of the Philippines.

Her wake will be at the Chapel of the Holy Guardian Angels from 18 October 2022 at 5:00 pm to 12 midnight, and on October 19 and 20, 2022, from 12 noon to 12 midnight. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 6:00 pm from October 18 to 20, 2022. Mass presiders will be Fr. Jonjee Sumpaico, SJ (Oct 18), Fr. Ben Nebres, SJ (Oct 19), and Fr. Jett Villarin, SJ (Oct 20). These will be live streamed on the AGS-CMO YouTube Channel.

On Friday, 21 October 2022, she will be transferred to the Metropolitan Cathedral of Lipa, where she served in the music ministry. Internment will be on Sunday, 23 October 2022, at 2:00 pm.

The Ateneo de Manila Grade School community mourns for our colleague and friend and extends our condolences to her family and asks everyone to accompany Coach Daisy with our prayers in her passage from death to eternal life.

Loving and merciful God,

we entrust our sister to your mercy.

You loved her greatly in this life:

now that she is freed from all its cares,

give her happiness and peace for ever.

The old order has passed away:

welcome her now into paradise

where there will be no more sorrow,

no more weeping or pain,

but only peace and joy

with Jesus your Son,

and the Holy Spirit

for ever and ever. Amen.

May the choirs of angels lead her into paradise. May the martyrs come to welcome her and bring her home into the holy city, the new and eternal Jerusalem.
