ASMPH donates tablet chairs to public schools

In an effort to support students affected by the recent onslaught of Super Typhoon Karding, the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health (ASMPH) donated 94 tablet chairs to Kaliwanagan High School in San Jose City, Nueva Ecija. The ASMPH also donated 62 tablet chairs to GSIS Village Elementary School, and 74 to Masambong High School, both of which are schools in Quezon City. These public schools were heavily affected by the recent typhoon, which left their facilities damaged.

The donation was facilitated by the Ateneo Center for Educational Development (ACED) with support from the Ateneo Central Facilities Management Office, Central Purchasing Office, Central Accounting Office, and the Office of the Vice President for Finance and Treasurer.

The tablet chairs originally came from the ASMPH’s plenary rooms, which were retrofitted with new furniture in compliance with COVID-19 health protocols set by the government and the University.

Following this donation, the ASMPH affirms its mission to support the University’s efforts of nation building by making “systemic, systematic and structural changes that improve the health of individuals and communities.” It adds that health goes beyond physical wellness and also includes mental wellness, which can be achieved by helping to make schools in the country more conducive to learning. This endeavor aligns with the ACED’s mission to move up the performance of public schools by facilitating partnerships with individuals and institutions that have human and material resources to offer.
