NEWS | Personal data of students leaked from University’s website

INDIA – The personal data of over 30,000 students were reportedly leaked and published on a dark web portal according to the cyber-security agency Kochi. This came after a technical glitch was reported on the official website of Kannur University, wherein the personal data exposed included those provided in the admission form. READ HERE

AUSTRALIA – The Xavier College in Victoria says that hackers are threatening to release sensitive data of some of their students.  The supposed breach took place in June 2022 and was initially kept secret from the school community due to lack of evidence. It was later confirmed that the sensitive information of almost 100 students or that of their relatives was stolen. READ HERE   

NEWS | Former student sues district school for privacy violation

UNITED STATES – A former student of Middleton High School has filed a lawsuit against the institution due to defamation and violation of his privacy rights. This came after the district sent text messages to parents and other students stating that he had brought a gun to the school. It later caused recipients to believe that the student was dangerous and violent. READ HERE

PHILIPPINES – The National Privacy Commission (NPC) has announced that no Filipino data was involved in the recent ransomware attack against the AirAsia Group.
